For those of you who tried to use the ChemSpider system this past weekend you will likely have noticed that service was far from adequate. We brought the system down over the weekend, our quietest time, but still about 1600 of you would have experienced connectivity issues. We have delayed the necessary maintenance as long as we can but with the increased surge in usage and indexing by the search engines we have over 40,000 daily transactions hitting the servers on a fairly regular basis now and this maintenance is necessary. We believe the much-needed maintenance will offer us improved performance now, and in the future. We‘re sorry for the downtime but with only three servers to host the entire system (1 web-server, 1 database server and 1 back-up) there was no way to provide uninterrupted service. Feel free to push your requests to ChemSpider now!
