I’ve been watching the Microsoft Live Academic Search capabilities for a number of months wondering where it would go. Whether it was “first to market” awareness for Google Scholar or simply the more general bias towards Google for searching the future of Live Academic Search vs. Scholar was always of interest. Based on the statement made on the Official Blog of the Microsoft Live Search team the decision has been made to remove Live Academic.

Quote “Today we informed our partners that we are ending the Live Search Books and Live Search Academic projects and that both sites will be taken down next week. Books and scholarly publications will continue to be integrated into our Search results, but not through separate indexes.”
