Levels of cholesterol in the membranes of hair cells in the inner ear can affect your hearing according to an article in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. There are two types of sensory hair cells in the inner ear called the inner and outer hair cells. It is the outer hair cells that are affected by cholesterol levels and produce the inaudible sounds in the ear canal.

Having totally misinterpreted the possibilities here, and with a loss of hearing after too many Christmas presents with “noises” for the kids, I did my best to improve my hearing by increasing the cholesterol levels in my ears. Side effects.
1) I don’t like the smell of day old french fries hanging out of my ears
2) As a result of shoving fries in my ears my hearing got worse
3) Why are people looking at me?
