Date Severity Status Feedback
Oct 7 2015 8:02PM Normal Acknowledged ChemSpider lists Macrogols (of various sorts) as synonyms for Ethylene Glycol. Macrogols are in fact polymerised ethylene glycol i.e. "poly(ethylene glycol)".
Thank you for the feedback, we have now curated the record to remove these incorrect synonyms. The ChemSpider datamodel does not support polymers or any extended structures; to have an entry in our database there has to be a discrete structure (this can still be a large structure though we have entries with over 4000 au molecular weight). However, some data sources provide data (names etc) that is about a polymer but associated with a simplified structure. This seems to be what happened here. In cases such as this when trade names are supplied it is often not easy for us to tell if the name relates to the depicted structure or a polymer, so we don't approve or delete them until we have evidence about what they actually refer to.

Thank you for your feedback. The 3D image seems to be working for me on this record. Could you please reply to this email to let us know what browser, operating system, and version of Java you are using?
