Aug 29 2011 9:42AM Normal Acknowledged Looking at the 3D structure of hexafluoroacetone, it would seem as if this was a planar molecule (all the atoms are in the z=0 plane). This is however not the case, i.e. there is a bug with the associated 3D mol file.
Thank you for your feedback. ChemSpider does not store 3D molfiles of structures for the 3D view. Instead 3D structures are generated on-the-fly, sometimes this does not work correctly. In these cases it may be possible to get an improved structure in Jmol - by right clicking on the image and then selecting the computation menu --> Optimise. However, the revised structure is not currently stored in ChemSpider.
