Glucosamine is an ambiguous ring structure with alpha and beta forms. May need to specify structures for glucosamine more speicifically.
ChemSpider is a structure-centric database - the structure is the key bit of data in the database. As you will note the structure displayed has fully defined stereochemistry. This is in fact the beta-anomer of glucosamine (I have curated the record so that this is reflected in the name displayed in the title section) the alpha anomer has CSID 393207, and the structure without specified anomeric centre is CSID 388352. |
