Jul 15 2011 3:20AM Normal Acknowledged I was under the impression that Bactoprenol is another name for undecaprenol phosphate, C55-P? I may be wrong but from the literature that I have been looking at the current formula and picture are wrong. Thanks for any help!
The fact that the name ends in -ol suggests that Bactoprenol would have a free alcohol group. Based on several sources - including the Wikipedia article which I've just added to this record, I believe this is the structure of Bactoprenol but that it is phopsphorylated as part of some biological processes. Following the Pubmed Id link (5965329) in the Datasources infobox the description of the structure seems consistent with this record. It would be useful if you could let us know if you find evidence that agrees/disagrees with this.
