Jun 1 2013 9:58AM	Normal	Acknowledged	Hi Tony, when preparing for my next course in medicinal chemistry I encountered that Isomalt is a mixture of two sugaralcohols: 1-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-mannitol and -sorbitol; its prepared from Isomaltulose, which is 6-O-α-D-Glucopyranosyl-D-fructose (Palatinose); when you now make a H2/Raneynickel reduction of the fructose part, you end up with sorbit and mannit Thank you for your feedback. Since isomalt is a mixture of alpha-D-glucopyranosido-1,6-sorbitol and alpha-D-glucopyranosido-1,6-mannitol, this is an incorrect synonym for this record. I have removed it.
